GOBELINS
In 1957, she is asked to exhibit a patchwork (appliquékleed) in the Rotterdam Art Circle (Rotterdamse Kunstkring) and her career as an artist is launched.
The patchwork is purchased by architect J. Boks. Following this exhibition, the Nederlandse Bank in Rotterdam commissions her first gobelin. In order to explore the gobelin technique, a red patchwork is “translated” by the weaving mill De Uil. This tapestry is exhibited at the Galleria del Cavallino in Venice (1961) and purchased by the textile manufacturer P. Marzotto.
Orders for gobelins start arriving in quick succession, including gobelins for the Rotterdam Verzekerings Sociëteit (RVS) (currenlty in the collection of ING/Nationale Nederlanden) and for the Cindu in Uithoorn (Erosie 1963).
The gobelins are not only made at the weaving mill of de Uil, but also at the Workshop for Antique Textiles in Haarlem and the Gobelin Weverij “Amsterdam”. Moreover, Wil Fruytier also starts a weaving mill in her house on the Amstel under the name "De Drietand" where she, with a weaver, is directly involved in the production of the gobelins.

GOBELINS
In 1957 wordt zij gevraagd om een appliquékleed te exposeren in de Rotterdamse Kunstkring en dit wordt de start voor haar carrière als kunstenaar.
Het appliquékleed wordt door architect J. Boks aangekocht. Naar aanleiding van deze tentoonstelling geeft de Nederlandse Bank te Rotterdam haar opdracht voor het maken van haar eerste gobelin. Teneinde de gobelintechniek te verkennen wordt een rood appliquékleed door weverij De Uil in gobelintechniek "vertaald".
Deze gobelin wordt geëxposeerd bij Galleria Cavallino in Venetië (1961) en aangekocht door de textielfabrikant P. Marzotto.
Gobelin opdrachten volgen elkaar nu snel op zoals een tweetal gobelins voor de Rotterdamse verzekeringssociëteit (RVS) (nu in de collectie van ING/Nationale Nederlanden) en voor de "Cindu" in Uithoorn (Erosie 1963).
De gobelins worden niet alleen gemaakt bij Weverij de Uil maar ook bij de Werkplaats voor Antieke Textiel te Haarlem en de Gobelin Weverij "Amsterdam".
Bovendien begint Wil Fruytier zelf ook met een weverij in haar huis aan de Amstel onder de naam "De Drietand waar zij met een weefster direct betrokken is bij de uitvoering van de gobelins.
